Four Days Down, Seven Days to Go at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai

Updated: Nov 29, 2019

UAE residents and bookworms of all nationalities, as well as tourists flocked to Dubai Studio City for the Sale’s second chapter in Dubai

Following the success of the first weekend, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai is gearing up for a final week of non-stop Book Sale, and Dubai book lovers are all over it. Over 90 thousand avid readers and bookworms descended on Sound Stage over the first weekend to explore books across several genres - children’s, fiction and non-fiction sections, each of which is filtered down into sub-sections and specialist areas of interest.

Entrance to the Big Bad Wolf Books Sale Dubai is free. Open 24 hours a day until 11.59pm on Sunday 20 October. The Sale, which features three million brand-new English-language books available at 50% - 80% discount off recommended retail prices, has once again proven to be a success in Dubai.

“My wife and I went on Friday and there was so much going on – crowds trawling through books, kids running around. We loved it!  We have three children and it was very exciting for them too. As expected, our trolleys were full of children’s books,” said Masoud Omar, a Lebanese expat living in Dubai.

While the vast majority of the Sale’s three million books are English-language, event partner Mohammed bin Rashid Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), has contributed a number of Arabic books and publications through its publishing arm, Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution as part of its commitment to promote the Arabic language.

“I loved the variety of books, from fiction, to comics books to lifestyle and so much more. It gives you endless options to pick from. The fact that the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is open 24 hours means that I can make time for that midnight book shopping spree! When I heard that it’s returning to Dubai for a second year, I could not contain my excitement,” said Nader Nabil.

Mohamed Al Aidaroos, Managing Partner, Ink Readable Books, the local organisers of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai, says the Sale has something for everyone - teachers, parents, students, book lovers, occasional readers and even those looking for a gift ahead of the festive season.

“The Sale is the perfect opportunity for families, friends and individuals to explore books to further their learning. It’s a great way to spend a day with loved ones surrounded by books. Similar to our first edition last year, our goal is to promote a culture of reading among various communities by making high-quality and affordable English books accessible to all. In response to Dubai’s reading trends and insights gathered in chapter one of the Book Sale, we have more business, self-help and fiction books this year– the three most popular genres among Dubai readers last year,” said Al Aidaroos.
