Despite the slow economic recovery after the pandemic and the persistent inflation, the number of billionaires in the US in 2023 has increased, with more than 60 new faces entering the Forbes Billionaire List this year.
This inspired the team at US Census Bureau to look beyond the numbers and see where the self-made billionaires were born. The motivated team behind this study took all 735 US billionaires and carefully sifted out those born outside the country and those who inherited or married into their fortune.
The team at US Census Bureau discovered that 54 self-made American-born billionaires were born in New York City, followed by Chicago and Los Angeles, with 14 billionaires each.
